About Mary Wichmann
Our mission at Hospice of the Red River Valley is to provide comfort at the end of life’s journey.
Hospice care is comprehensive and holistic. That is to say we provide comfort not only for the physical and medical needs of people nearing the end of life, but we also embrace the emotional, spiritual and very practical needs of patients and their loved ones.
Mary Wichmann knows first-hand about the transformational possibilities of hospice care. She has been a volunteer for Hospice of the Red River Valley since 2000, serving as a vital and integral part of countless patient-care teams.
Hospice care is available for people who have a life expectancy of six months or less. Mary recounts experiences with several patients who died shortly after she meets them. As hospice professionals, we strive to help our patients live as fully as possible until they die, and that is better done with more time together. Still, “Hi, I’m Mary” shows us what a difference we can make to each other, even when time is against us.
Mary Wichmann is a graduate of North Dakota State University and has been a financial advisor for more than twenty-five years. She works and lives with her high-school sweetheart, Mark, on Cotton Lake in Minnesota.
Mary has generously gifted all rights to “Hi, I’m Mary” to Hospice of the Red River Valley. To learn more about hospice care and the organization, visit us at www.hrrv.org.
